In an industry where actresses are known to gather flab and flesh as soon they tie the nuptial knot, it’s a wonder that Aishwarya Rai has been able to maintain that killer figure even after years of her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan.

Totally understandable then that fashion designers still give the doe-eyed beauty the skin-hugging garments to slip into.

But Jeez! we couldn’t believe our ears when we heard that Aishwarya had an attitude to throw when asked to wear a skin-tight outfit by a designer. Not that Ash didn’t like the outfit or she had a grouse with the designer, but the former beauty queen remained as impassive as a statue while putting on the dress. It was the designer’s female assistant who had to pull the dress over Ash and make sure it was fit at all places.

It is not very common to see the Bachchan Bahu at the audio release of a film. But the occasion was special here as it was the audio launch of Tamil film “Rettachuzhi” produced by Shankar, who is directing her in “Endhiran: The Robot”.

Aishwarya looked ravishing as ever in a white saree at Sathyam Cinemas Monday evening.

“When we explained to her the significance of ‘Rettachuzhi’ and the cast of the film, she immediately agreed. It’s not just her beauty but her commitment towards her profession, which has made her a great actress,” said Shankar who was obviously thrilled to have her at the occasion.

Ash released the audio cassettes and CDs of “Rettachuzhi” which were accepted by noted lyricist Vairamuthu. Ash had once been described by Vairamuthu as a “Taj Mahal weighing 50 kilograms” in one of his lyrics for the film “Jeans”.

The fans were elated when Ash spoke in fluent Tamil and later switched backed to English.

“It’s an honour for me to have been present at this place among legends like Balachander and Bharathiraaja and I feel proud about it. I also feel happy that a woman is treated so respectfully at a public function like this,” she said.

“I can never forget the Tamil film industry and director Shankar in my life. Shankar’s ‘Jeans’ was my first successful film. The many things I learnt during the making of the film gave me enough self-confidence that I could continue to act for a few more years.

“I feel even more proud to be part of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ opposite superstar Rajnikanth…I watched a few songs and some sequences from ‘Rettachuzhi’…I think Karthick Raaja’s music and tunes are excellent. I would surely watch the film in future,” she added.

Aishwarya Rai hogged the limelight at S Picture’s, director Shankar produced Rettiasuzhi audio launch at Sathyam Cinemas on Monday (March 15) night.

Ash who came with her mom looked simple and elegant in a white designer sari and flashed her famous smile and won over everybody including veterans like K.Balachandar, Bharathiraaja, director Mahendran among others.

Two songs and trailer were screened for the invitees who were overflowing and could not be accommodated. There were utter chaos and confusion outside the hall where invitees were not allowed inside due to lack of seats and for security reasons The audio was launched by Aishwarya who gave the first copy to Vairamuthu.

The presence of Aishwarya Rai had an electrifying presence at the function and took the limelight away from the audio launch as speaker after speaker was praising Aishwarya’s beauty, her simplicity, down-to-earth nature and so on. Poor Ash who could not follow what they were talking, but sat patiently and pretended to be enjoying every bit of it.

The dignitaries on dais were director Thamirai, music director Karthik Raja, Parthipan, Hansraj Saxena, Vairamuthu, Ramanarayanan, VC Guhanathan, Abhirami Ramanthan, directors Sasi, Lingusamy and Ameer. The hero and heroine of Rettaisuzhi had no seat and were seen watching the proceedings in a corner..

The flow of events was the normal one with each and every speaker praising Shankar and his S pictures for making quality films and wishing Rettaisuzhi all the best. Said Shankar: “ I am very proud that I produced this film in which two veterans of Tamil industry KB sir and Bharathiraaja are pitted against each other. Recently I watched a Hindi film 3 Idiots and came out smiling. Similarly, I assure that after watching Rettaisuzhi everyone will have a smile on their face”.

Shankar also praised Aishwarya to the skies: “She is not only the most beautiful woman in the world but a hard working artiste, dedicated to whatever she does. Even while we were shooting in a forest near South Africa, she adjusted in minimal comforts and rough terrain”.

Ash spoke the last and she was all smiles as she greeted everyone saying Ellavarkkum Vanakkam and said: “I am so happy to be back in Tamil working with incredibly talented and wonderful people. KB sir and Bharathiraaja sir, your generosity to me has been a bit overwhelming. I saw the trailer and songs and think that Rettaisuzhi will be a complete film for family watching. I enjoyed working with Shankar sir in Jeans, a film that was an integral part of my career. It taught me so much about the importance of content and gave me confidence to make it big later. Now the last schedule of the Enthiren is going on and Shankar sir is one human being who has his soul in the right place and all his films have something to say to the audience. I thank everyone for all the love showered on me”.

New Delhi: Sneha Ullal, who made her debut in Bollywood with 'Lucky' opposite Salman Khan, has been in limelight once again after long gap. As soon as she appeared on big screen, people noticed her resemblance with Aishwarya Rai, but she failed to make big impact on film directors with her acting skills after 'Lucky'.

Though she did not come across as a good actress but definitely impressed the Bollywood and public with her physical appearance.

Sneha will share the screen with Allu Arjun in a song in 'Varudu'. Mani Sharma has created the song, which has been pen down by Veturi. As per the experts, this song is expected to be a big hit. 'Varudu' is produced by D.V.V. Danayya under the banner of Universal Media.

Sneha Ullal had disappeared from Bollywood after her debut flick, as she was not offered interesting roles. She then tried her luck down south and is currently doing some good work.

She is currently shooting for 'Simha' opposite Balakrishna.
